Faculties
Students are offered an extensive range of sports opportunities to improve their skills and promote the
participation in sport for the rest of their lives.
Students are encouraged to participate in competitive sport against their peers and students from other
schools.
Students experience the wide range of social, moral and cultural benefits that sports participation provides.
Throughout Years 7 & 8 students follow a full range of practical activities, for example Football, Rugby,
Athletics, Dance and Outdoor Adventurous Activities.
In Year 7 students will take part in six 50 minute lessons and Year 8 & 9 students will take part in five 50
minute sessions over two weeks.
In Key STage 4 (Years 10 & 11) students undertake BTEC Sport and BTEC Dance courses which involve
theory as well as practical activities.
Through leadership courses (e.g. JSLA, CSLA, Fitness Leaders) students have the opportunity to develop
leadership skills and qualities which will equip them for their future careers.
In Key Stage 5, students can choose to follow the BTEC National in Sport.
